Job summary

Checkout.com in London is seeking a senior engineering leader to own the decisioning platform that underpins risk, verification and compliance across markets. You’ll shape architecture, scale automated checks, and partner with Product, Risk, Compliance and Legal to move from manual reviews to an integrated, scalable platform.

You’ll lead an established team of engineers and managers, drive cloud-native design, ensure auditability and high availability, and foster collaboration with business

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-level engineering organisations through growth and change.
• Transforming critical platforms while the business remains live.
• Experience building and operating mission-critical decisioning or rules platforms at scale.
• Experience in a regulated environment (financial services, payments or similar).
• Domain knowledge in KYB, AML, fraud or merchant risk; experience with self-serve or high-volume onboarding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and strategy for Risk, Verification & Compliance, including what to build once and share across segments.
• Build a decisioning platform that automates routine decisions with safe, auditable outcomes and routes complex cases to analysts.
• Make risk dynamic across the customer lifecycle with rules that evolve toward ML-driven decisions.
• Make decisions explainable to customers, partners and analysts with clear audit trails.
• Provide configurable controls allowing cohorts to adjust settings without code changes.
• Scale screening and monitoring to accommodate large enterprises and many smaller customers.
