National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is recruiting a Head of Engineering Design to lead a 90+ engineering team across Bristol, Cardiff, Tipton and Castle Donington, with regular travel across our licence areas. You will drive safe, compliant and cost-effective designs for 11kV–132kV assets while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Significant experience leading large electrical engineering design teams.
Experience delivering EHV/substation, protection, control, civil and linear asset designs.

Responsabilités

Lead a 90+ engineering team across Tipton, Castle Donington, Bristol and Cardiff focusing on safety, collaboration and delivery excellence.
Set objectives, priorities and performance measures for Engineering Design aligned with major projects and wider goals.
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality NGED designs to support investment programmes.
Maintain governance and assurance to ensure designs comply with NGED policies and CDM requirements.
Develop and embed outsourcing models for Design & Build to support growth and resilience.
Drive design throughput, productivity and cost-effective project delivery through standardisation and automation improvements.
Shape the future structure of Engineering Design resources to deliver the best outcomes for the business.
