We are currently recruiting for a Head of Design (Water and Wastewater) to join our Water Consultancy business.

We are seeking an experienced Head of Design to lead our solutions team and drive excellence in design innovation.

About The Role:

The Head of Design/Design Lead will be responsible for leading the team in developing cutting-edge solutions for the water industry. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, design methodologies, and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing design through feasibility, outline, and detail stages, fostering innovation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to support business planning and delivery for our Water Industry clients. This industry is evolving, offering challenges and opportunities that require innovation, dedication, and teamwork.

What you’ll be doing:

Leadership and Team Management:

• Lead and mentor the design team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Set clear goals aligned with company strategy and client needs
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development

Design Strategy and Innovation:

• Develop and implement innovative design strategies
• Collaborate across teams for product improvements and new developments
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations

Project Management:

• Oversee design processes from concept to final delivery
• Ensure projects meet quality, budget, and timeline standards
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with standards and regulations

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Maintain quality protocols ensuring safety and efficiency
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations
• Conduct audits and implement improvements

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Support business development through client interactions and proposals
• Build relationships with clients, partners, and industry bodies
• Represent the company at industry events

Who we’re looking for:

• Experience in the water industry in engineering solutions, with leadership in design roles
• Knowledge of water and wastewater project frameworks
• Proficiency in CAD, simulation tools, and design methodologies
• Strong project management skills

Qualifications:
