We are currently recruiting for a Head of Design (Water and Wastewater) to join our Water Consultancy business.

RPS Group is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the water and wastewater industry. We seek an experienced Head of Design to lead our solutions team and drive design innovation.

About The Role:

The Head of Design/Design Lead will oversee the development of solutions for the water industry, requiring a strong understanding of engineering principles, design methodologies, and regulations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing design processes and fostering innovation within multidisciplinary teams.

About The Team:

Our Water Consulting team comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to support business planning and delivery in the water sector. This industry demands innovation, dedication, and teamwork.

What you’ll be doing:

Leadership and Team Management:

• Lead and mentor the design team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Set goals aligned with company strategy and client needs.
• Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.

Design Strategy and Innovation:

• Develop and implement innovative design strategies.
• Collaborate across teams to improve and develop new products.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations.

Project Management:

• Oversee the entire design process from concept to completion.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders for compliance and standards adherence.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Maintain quality protocols for reliable and safe designs.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
• Regularly review and improve processes.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Support business development through client interactions and presentations.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Represent the company at industry events.

Who we’re looking for:

• Significant experience in water industry engineering solutions and design leadership.
• Experience with design frameworks for water and wastewater projects.
• Proficiency in CAD, simulation tools, and design methodologies.
• Proven project delivery skills.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater standards.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related.
