We are currently recruiting for a Head of Design (Water and Wastewater) to join our Water Consultancy business.

RPS Group is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the water and wastewater industry. We are seeking an experienced Head of Design to lead our solutions team and drive excellence in design innovation.

About The Role:

The Head of Design/Design Lead will be responsible for leading the team in developing cutting-edge solutions for the water industry. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, design methodologies, and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing design through feasibility, outline and detail, fostering innovation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting is a team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to our Water Industry clients to support business planning and delivery. This industry offers challenges and opportunities that require innovation, dedication, and teamwork to meet client needs.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor the design team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Set goals aligned with company strategy and client needs. Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
• Design Strategy and Innovation: Develop strategies that promote innovation and market differentiation. Collaborate across teams to improve products and develop new solutions. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
• Project Management: Oversee the entire design process, ensure timely delivery, quality, and budget adherence. Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and regulators to ensure standards compliance.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish quality protocols, ensure safety and environmental standards are met, and conduct audits for continuous improvement.
• Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Support business development through client presentations and proposals. Build relationships with stakeholders and represent the company at industry events.

Who we’re looking for:

• Experience in the water industry, with leadership in engineering solutions and design management.
• Proficiency in design frameworks for water and wastewater projects.
• Strong skills in CAD, simulation tools, and design methodologies.
• Proven project management success with complex projects.
• Knowledge of industry standards and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
