Job summary

VolkerWessels UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Head of Data & Analytics to shape our data vision and lead a modern, scalable data platform at pace. You will own the Data & Analytics strategy, build a high-performing team, establish governance and MDM frameworks, and deliver actionable dashboards for senior leaders using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Power BI.

• Proven experience leading Data & Analytics functions and building high‑performing teams.
• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, IT or related field or equivalent experience.
• Expert knowledge of Power BI, DAX, Power Query and data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of VolkerWessels UK's Data & Analytics strategy and roadmap.
• Build, develop and inspire a high‑performing Data & Analytics team.
• Design and implement robust data governance and Master Data Management frameworks.
• Architect and deliver modern cloud‑based data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Power BI.
• Own the Power BI and cloud data platform environments, ensuring security, scalability and fit‑for‑purpose.
• Develop impactful dashboards and analytics for senior leaders to drive decisions.
• Provide hands‑on expertise across data modelling, SQL and ETL pipelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to translate challenges into data solutions.
• Drive innovation by exploring emerging technologies and opportunities.

About our role

• Lead the delivery of VolkerWessels UK's Data & Analytics strategy, ensuring data becomes a key driver of business performance and decision‑making.
• Build, develop and inspire a high‑performing Data & Analytics team, creating a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Design and implement robust data governance and Master Data Management frameworks, ensuring data quality, integrity and compliance.
• Architect and deliver modern cloud‑based data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Power BI.
• Take ownership of the Power BI and cloud data platform environments, ensuring they are secure, scalable and fit for purpose.
• Develop impactful dashboards, reports and analytics solutions that provide actionable insight to senior leaders across the business.
• Act as the senior technical authority, providing hands‑on expertise across data modelling, DAX, ETL pipelines, SQL and analytics architecture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to understand business challenges and deliver data solutions that create measurable value.
• Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies, trends and opportunities that strengthen our data capabilities and competitive advantage.

About you

We're looking for a passionate and technically credible leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.

You'll bring:

• Proven experience leading Data & Analytics functions and developing high‑performing teams.
• Expert‑level knowledge of Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, SQL and ETL/data pipeline technologies.
• Strong experience in data governance, data quality and Master Data Management (MDM).
• A track record of delivering enterprise‑scale data and analytics solutions.
• Outstanding stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Degree‑level qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
