Job summary

Northumbria University seeks a senior leader to drive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) growth within its Research & Innovation Services portfolio. The role forms a key part of the RIS Executive Team, reporting to the Director of Knowledge Exchange, and directing CPD development across Health & Wellbeing, Society & Culture, and Science & Environment.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of the UK higher education environment and CPD/workforce development.
• Ability to translate faculty plans into active programme pipelines with measurable income.
• Experience shaping knowledge exchange and CPD growth strategy.
• Proven leadership of commercial and business development teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and senior-level engagement.
• Experience with income forecasting and resource planning.
• Essential: first degree; desirable: professional qualification in related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead CPD growth across three faculties; translate KE plans into CPD programmes.
• Manage employer and professional body relationships underpinning demand.
• Oversee commercial opportunities in consultancy, contract and collaborative research, and KTPs.
• Lead a cross-disciplinary team of KE professionals; drive high performance.
• Build networks with employers, industry partners, and sector peers.
• Drive compliance with HEBCIS and HESA obligations.
