Job summary

Goodman Masson are partnering with a social housing provider to appoint a Head of Compliance and Building Safety on a permanent basis in Birmingham. You will provide strategic leadership across the organisation's compliance framework, ensuring robust policies, processes and assurance to meet statutory, regulatory and health and safety requirements.

You will lead a team, influence senior stakeholders and embed a culture of compliance to deliver safe, well-managed homes for residents.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in social housing across compliance and building safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the statutory and regulatory compliance framework across housing stock and corporate assets.
• Provide strategic direction across landlord compliance.
• Ensure robust policies, procedures, systems and controls are in place to manage compliance risks.
• Oversee compliance programmes and ensure statutory inspections, servicing, testing and remedial works are completed within required timescales.
• Maintain effective oversight of compliance data, records and asset information, ensuring information is accurate, reliable and auditable.
• Provide regular compliance performance and risk reporting to senior management, Executive Teams and Board committees.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory and best practice developments, ensuring the organisation's compliance approach remains current and effective.
• Work collaboratively with Asset Management, Property Services, Repairs and wider operational teams to embed a strong culture of health, safety and compliance.
• Manage and monitor compliance-related contractors and consultants, ensuring performance, quality and value for money.
• Lead the identification, assessment and mitigation of compliance risks, escalating significant issues where appropriate.
• Support the organisation in meeting its regulatory obligations and maintaining effective assurance arrangements.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced housing professional to take a lead role in ensuring the organisation's homes, buildings and services meet all relevant statutory, regulatory and health and safety requirements. You will provide strategic leadership across the organisation's compliance framework, ensuring robust systems, policies and processes are in place to manage key areas of landlord compliance and protect residents, colleagues and the wider organisation.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the regulatory and legislative requirements affecting social housing and demonstrable experience of leading compliance within a housing environment. You will be confident operating at a senior level, with the ability to influence stakeholders, provide clear assurance and embed a strong culture of compliance across the organisation.
