Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and results-oriented Head of Business Development to spearhead our commercial growth across the UK energy sector. This is a high-impact role focused on driving sales of our innovative energy software and data products to both established and new partners. You'll leverage your deep knowledge of the commercial retail energy market, combined with a consultative sales approach, to identify opportunities, build partnerships, and close deals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities through research, outreach, and lead generation.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline to meet or exceed margin and revenue targets.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations that showcase the value and ROI of MyUtilityGenius solutions.
  • Promote adoption of our digital energy platforms and APIs, helping partners enhance their performance, compliance, and profitability.
  • Drive the entire sales lifecycle from initial contact through to signed contracts and onboarding.
  • Develop long-term client relationships to foster retention, upsell opportunities, and referral business.
  • Collaborate closely with product development, IT, and operations teams to align product delivery with market needs.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, generate sales reports, and communicate key insights to management.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory developments to maintain a competitive edge.

Required Experience & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the UK energy broker and supplier markets, with a strong grasp of industry trends and regulations.
  • Proven success in developing, retaining, and monetising client portfolios within the business energy retail sector.
  • Excellent networking, communication, and interpersonal skills to establish credibility and trust in the market.
  • Skilled in consultative selling, including business case development, gap analysis, sales deck creation, proposal writing, and contract negotiation.
  • Understanding of legal and commercial terms sufficient to identify risks and propose draft clauses.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and comfortable working remotely while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Appreciation for SaaS and energy technology trends and their relevance to clients’ operations.
  • Flexible working style with a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
