Job summary

Kedrion Biopharma UK in Elstree is seeking an experienced Head of Biosafety to lead the Biosafety function at the Elstree site, reporting to the Senior Director, Global Pathogen Safety. The role combines strategic oversight of pathogen safety, GLP compliance and laboratory operations with global visibility across international stakeholders.

The Head of Biosafety will lead scientific teams, ensure regulatory oversight, and influence global biosafety strategy while supporting development

Qualifications

• Significant experience within a GLP-regulated environment.
• GLP Test Facility Management experience or equivalent senior-level accountability.
• Experience supporting or leading Health Authority inspections.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to lead complex scientific programmes, projects and teams.

Job description

Kedrion Biopharma is seeking an experienced Head of Biosafety to lead the Biosafety function at our Elstree site.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Pathogen Safety, this senior leadership role is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of Biosafety activities, including pathogen safety, GLP compliance and laboratory operations at Elstree site

Whilst based in Elstree, the role has significant global visibility and impact through collaboration with international stakeholders and contribution to the wider Global Pathogen Safety strategy. It offers the opportunity to play a critical role in helping ensure the safety of plasma-derived medicinal products used by patients worldwide.

Key Requirements

• Significant experience within a GLP-regulated environment
• GLP Test Facility Management experience or equivalent senior-level accountability
• Experience supporting or leading Health Authority inspections
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to lead complex scientific programmes, projects and teams

We particularly welcome applications from candidates currently working in GLP roles such as Study Director, Quality Assurance or Test Facility Manager, or in an equivalent senior GLP position. As this is a Head-of-level role, candidates must also demonstrate strong experience leading teams and senior-level accountability within a GLP-regulated environment, together with strong pathogen-safety expertise.

This is an opportunity to lead a highly specialised Biosafety function, providing scientific leadership, regulatory oversight and strategic influence within a global organisation operating in a critical and highly regulated area of healthcare.

You will lead a team of scientific professionals and work closely with local and international stakeholders to support business priorities, regulatory compliance and global development programmes.

Hybrid working is available, although a strong onsite presence is encouraged during the initial stages of the role to support induction and understanding of site operations. International travel may be required, including induction activities in Italy.
