Job summary

Hydrogen Group seeks a senior Head of Application Management to lead a substantial team responsible for business-critical investment, risk and operational applications. The role combines strategic ownership with operational service delivery and governance.

The post is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days in the office, with a focus on stabilising the application estate, developing the team and driving continuous service improvements.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience managing application management teams in financial services or regulated environments.
• Strong background in IT service management and governance practices.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders and managing key suppliers and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a large application management function with accountability for team performance and succession planning.
• Own application services supporting critical investment and operational functions.
• Establish service management, incident resolution, problem management and governance practices.
• Manage strategic technology suppliers, outsourced services, contracts and service performance.
• Oversee budgets, resource allocation, and cost control while reporting financials.
• Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to align services with priorities.
• Support change programmes and service transitions into BAU.
• Ensure risk, security, regulatory controls and operational resilience across applications.
• Drive continuous improvement and standardisation across technology teams.
