Job summary

Freshfields Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater PartG mbB is seeking a visionary Head of Performance to lead the performance practice and shift the firm to AI-enabled, continuous performance development across London and Manchester.

You will define the strategic vision for integrating AI across objective-setting, feedback, calibration, and development, ensuring governance, effectiveness, and broad adoption of new performance habits.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in performance management or broader people practices within a global org.
• Hands-on familiarity with generative AI/LLM tools and platforms in HR/talent processes.
• Ability to translate ambitious vision into measurable roadmaps and organizational change.
• Experience leading cross-office teams across multiple locations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management to drive adoption of new practices.
• Solid understanding of data privacy, fairness, and responsible AI principles.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the firm's multi-year performance strategy and roadmap.
• Drive an AI-first approach across the performance cycle and develop enterprise AI tools and playbooks.
• Collaborate with Reward, Talent, L&D, HRIS, and HRBPs to link performance to compensation and career development.
• Lead and develop three direct reports across London and Manchester; foster a culture of experimentation and AI-enabled work.
• Establish governance, data privacy safeguards (GDPR), and responsible AI guardrails with Legal, IT, and Data Privacy teams.
• Oversee performance technology as the business owner (Workday modules) and drive system evolution with IT/HRIS.
• Engage senior leaders to promote organization-wide adoption of new performance habits and methodologies.
