Job summary

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) is seeking an Associate Director of Acute and Specialised Care to lead strategic commissioning for specialised, regional and supra-regional care across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, and the wider Wessex region. The role focuses on high-quality, person-centred services and optimal use of health budgets.

Qualifications

• Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in specialist commissioning or service management.
• Program/ project management qualification or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in strategic commissioning and designing/procuring healthcare services to improve patient outcomes.
• Experience building budgets and business plans across multiple funding streams.
• Experience redesigning acute and specialised care services in a multi-agency environment.
• Experience of staff management and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, procurement, monitoring and evaluation of services to align with population needs and value for money.
• Drive commissioning strategy, market shaping and contract management for delegated specialised commissioning, ambulance and acute services (e.g., cancer).
• Foster collaboration across the system, strengthen relationships and enable intelligence-led decision making.
• Represent the region at regional/national levels and ensure solutions meet population needs.
