Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust seeks an experienced consultant in clinical oncology with a focus on head and neck radiotherapy. The role encompasses clinical leadership, teaching and active participation in MDTs and audits.

You will drive research, manage clinical workloads, and contribute to clinical governance and multidisciplinary collaboration while engaging in on-call rotas and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent required.
• MRCP, FRCP, FRCR or equivalent.
• Fully trained in clinical oncology and eligible for higher specialist training or equivalent UK experience.

Responsibilities

• Clinical and managerial responsibility for oncology patients and specialties, including liaison with consultants, other clinicians, hospital staff and GPs.
• Continuing responsibility for patients' care and department functioning.
• Attend MDT meetings, maintain national standards and participate in peer review.
• Specialise in radiotherapy for head and neck malignancies, collaborating with surgical, palliative care and oncology colleagues.
• Undertake research and enter patients into clinical trials, including leading trial development.
• Share responsibility for clinical and professional standards meeting national requirements and local quality system.
• Take part in the Centre's on-call and receiving on-call consultant rotas.
• Supervise, educate and appraise junior staff.
• Engage in clinical governance, clinical audit and continuing medical education.
• Undertake undergraduate teaching.
• Contribute to management and administration of the service.
• Report critical incidents under Trust policy.
