Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust invites applications for a substantive ENT consultant with focus on head and neck surgery. The role encompasses supervision of junior staff, ward duties across two hospital sites, teaching and research, and participation in an on-call rota (1 in 16).

Fellowship in head and neck or evidence of plans to undertake one, FRCS(ORL-HNS) or equivalent, and full GMC registration are essential for appointment.

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent is required.
• FRCS(ORL-HNS) or equivalent is required.
• Fellowship in head and neck or plans to undertake one.
• Fully accredited for higher specialist training, or eligible for the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train junior medical staff.
• Share responsibility for beds on wards 9, Day ward, Kinmonth Unit and paediatric wards at LRI.
• Share responsibility for beds on the Medical Day Case Unit at LGH.
• Deliver clinical sessions as set out in the job plan.
• Undertake teaching, research and administration.
• Develop the service with other ENT consultants at UHL.
• Participate in the adult and paediatric on-call rota, 1 in 16.
• Undertake managerial duties for patients' care and running of the clinical department.
