Job summary

Brendoncare is seeking a Head Housekeeper at Brendoncare Stildon, East Grinstead to lead the housekeeping and laundry team and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and resident wellbeing.

This full-time, permanent role is 35 hours per week, with some weekend work. Competitive shift patterns and comprehensive training are provided to support your role and development within a compassionate charity.

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic or cleaning role outside the home with some supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the cleaning and laundry team day-to-day
• Create and update cleaning and laundry schedules
• Liaise with residents and families to understand preferences
• Supervise external cleaners and monitor performance
• Order and maintain stock of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Audit equipment condition and organise repairs/replacements
• Ensure laundry runs efficiently and meets required standards
• Complete risk assessments
• Ensure full COSHH compliance

As Head Housekeeper, you’ll help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where our residents truly feel at home. You’ll lead the housekeeping and laundry team, ensuring the highest standards are maintained across the home.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the cleaning and laundry team day-to-day
• Creating and updating cleaning and laundry schedules
• Liaising with residents and families to understand preferences
• Supervising external cleaners and monitoring performance
• Ordering and maintaining stock of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Auditing equipment condition and organising repairs/replacements
• Ensuring laundry runs efficiently and meets required standards
• Completing risk assessments
• Ensuring full compliance with COSHH regulations

About you

We’re looking for someone with experience in a domestic or cleaning role outside the home, ideally with some supervisory experience.

You’ll also need to be:

• A confident and supportive team leader
• Organised, reliable, and proactive
• Kind, approachable, and respectful toward older people
• Comfortable building relationships with residents, relatives, and colleagues
