Job summary

The University of Birmingham is seeking a Senior Head Chef to lead the culinary service across its Food, Beverage and Retail operations at Edgbaston, Birmingham. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary in the band £33,002–£35,608 with progression to £39,906 and a 37.5-hour week.

You will manage kitchen teams, control costs, design menus, uphold HACCP/COSHH standards and ensure high-quality service for staff, students and visitors, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience across multiple kitchens/outlets.
• Experience delivering high-quality culinary service.
• Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
• Ability to cost menus and manage budgets.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills as per role requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and production for food/hospitality services.
• Monitor and maintain consistent food standards.
• Develop menus and innovate offerings.
• Plan delivery and delegate to ensure smooth operations.
• Achieve budgeted food cost of sales and manage stock.
