Equans is seeking a Head Caretaker to lead the school caretaking team at Waverley School, Birmingham. The role oversees day-to-day premises management, safety, and maintenance across the site, ensuring secure and well-kept facilities for students and staff.

The ideal candidate has significant caretaking experience, strong leadership, and solid health & safety knowledge, with DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one. The position is full-time, based in Birmingham, UK.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in caretaking, premises, or building maintenance.
• Experience supervising or leading a team is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
• Good practical DIY, maintenance, and fault finding skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of the school premises.
• Lead and guide the caretaking team to keep the school safe and well maintained.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and statutory requirements.
• Liaise with school staff to minimise disruption and maintain facilities.

This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary between £26,728.21 - £32,800.00 per annum and benefits package. Shift times: Monday to Friday 8 Hour Shift between 6:00am - 19:00pm Rotating shift pattern. Occasional weekend work What will you deliver?The Head Caretaker is responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the school premises where there are multiple caretakers.
