Job summary

Equans is seeking a Mobile Electrician to support the North Lanarkshire Schools contract from Bellshill, ML4 3NJ. The role is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

You will deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance across school premises, including classrooms, offices, plant rooms, and external areas. The role requires safeguarding PVG compliance, collaboration with facilities staff, and prompt response to emergencies to maintain safe learning

Qualifications

• Qualified electrician with relevant UK certs and eligibility to work in schools.
• Experience in facilities management, building services or education sectors preferred.
• Knowledge of life-safety systems and electrical testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical installations, modifications, and repairs within school buildings and facilities.
• Maintain lighting, small power, distribution boards, containment systems, and related equipment.
• Support emergency lighting, access control, and other life-safety systems maintenance and testing.
• Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs promptly to minimise disruption.
• Carry out reactive tasks and planned preventative maintenance per schedules.
• Plan works with Facilities Manager to minimise impact on lessons and events.
• Provide updates on progress, risks, and timelines to stakeholders.
• Liaise with subcontractors and multi-trade teams for proper sequencing and delivery.
• Respond quickly to emergencies such as power failures within agreed times.
• Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota – 1 in 9.
