Job summary
Avara Foods are recruiting a Hatchery Operative to join our Usselby Hatchery team. You will sort chicks, transfer eggs through incubation and assist with hatchery processes to prepare birds for delivery to farms. Training starts on day one in a secure, full-time role with guaranteed hours.
The role emphasizes hygiene, biosecurity and teamwork, with a focus on meeting daily production targets. Overtime is available and Saturday premiums apply, with full training provided to support long-term
Qualifications
- Good English and basic numeracy skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to work.
- Flexible and reliable attitude.
- Previous hatchery/farming or manufacturing experience is welcome but not essential.
- Full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Sort chicks into the correct grades and quantities for farm delivery.
- Transfer eggs from storage to incubation machines and through hatching.
- Maintain high hygiene standards by cleaning equipment and work areas.
- Follow strict biosecurity procedures to protect bird health.
- Monitor bird welfare and health & safety requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve daily production targets.
