Job summary

Matchtech is recruiting a Hardware Team Leader in Kent to guide an electronics design team supporting safety-critical products, including helmet-mounted and head-up displays and mission computers. This permanent role focuses on technical and managerial leadership across the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading hardware/electronics teams, strong governance, and a track record of delivering on time within defence/aerospace contexts.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hardware/electronics teams through full product lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of electronics design in safety-critical environments.
• Experience managing costs, schedules, dependencies, risks and work packages.
• Understanding of risk and compliance in defence, security or aerospace sectors.
• Ability to identify process improvements to reduce failures and improve reliability.
• Familiarity with systems lifecycle activities, governance and product design control.

Responsibilities

• Provide managerial and technical leadership to a hardware/electronics team.
• Manage work packages, cost, schedule, risks and opportunities across lifecycles.
• Collaborate with production to align engineering with programme demand.
• Provide technical governance and ensure compliance with processes and standards.
• Lead cost/performance trade-offs and drive continuous improvement.
• Review resource needs with management and assist in team planning.
• Coach team members and develop technical capabilities and practices.
