Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Senior/Principal Software Engineer to lead embedded software for safety-critical systems in Kent. You will drive architecture, design, verification and certification artefacts, working across the full lifecycle and collaborating with customers and stakeholders.

The role requires strong C/C++, model-based design, and experience with real-time hardware interfaces, DO-178B/C standards, and mentoring engineers to implement best practices in a world-leading control and display

Qualifications

• Degree in electronics or software engineering.
• Strong C/C++ software engineering skills.
• Experience with real-time systems and hardware interfaces.
• Familiarity with DO-178B/C standards.

Responsibilities

• Leading design and development of embedded software, including drivers, protocols, human-machine interfaces with certification artefacts
• Defining system and software architectures from requirements using structured design, modelling and simulation
• Driving integration, verification and validation within a safety critical environment
• Providing technical leadership through mentoring, peer reviews and best practice
• Delivering reliable estimates, including sizing and reuse
• Engaging with customers to resolve technical challenges and shape solutions
• Contributing to engineering processes, design reviews and strategic decisions, ensuring high quality, compliant delivery
