Job summary

Guardian Jobs is seeking an experienced Handyman/Multi-trade operative to join a well-established company. The role covers delivering high-quality multi-trade works across Ministry of Justice estates, installing custodial product ranges, with nationwide travel.

You will be responsible for site repairs, gutter cleaning, materials management, safety compliance, and accurate reporting. A CSCS card and City & Guilds or equivalent qualification are required; security clearance may be needed.

• NVQ Level 2 or above desirable

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality multi-trade works meeting standards and customer expectations
• Netting repairs and gutter cleaning
• Manage materials, tools and time to support project profitability
• Complete accurate documentation: job sheets and site reports
• Communicate clearly with customers, Service Centre and colleagues
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental procedures
• Provide flexible support to other Multi Traders as needed
• Participate in toolbox talks, training and continuous improvement
• Travel across the UK to support national project delivery

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Salary: Direct Hire - £33,000 - £40,000 (paid door to door)

Location: Mobile / London, Kent, Essex, UK.

The company have an exciting opportunity to join a growing team of fitters supporting their customers across multiple Ministry of Justice estates of varying ages and building types. Their fitters will be installing the company’s product range of custodial products and they are looking for multi-skilled operatives and welders & fabricators to join their growing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality multi-trade works that meet company standards and customer expectations
• Netting repairs and gutter cleaning
• Manage materials, tools, and time effectively to support project profitability
• Complete accurate documentation, including job sheets and site reports
• Communicate clearly with customers, the Service Centre, and colleagues throughout each project
• Ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and environmental procedures
• Provide flexible support to other Multi Traders as needed
• Participate in toolbox talks, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Travel across the UK when required to support national project delivery

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience delivering high-quality multi-trade works
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on-site
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage time, materials, and costs effectively
• Understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices
• Previous prison workers with security clearance desirable

Candidate Requirements

• CSCS card
• City & Guilds or other accredited qualification in a relevant field
• Desirable but not essential: IPATH, PASMA, Fire Marshalling course, First aid, Welding Experience, NVQ Level 2 or above
• Any offer of employment will be subject to obtaining security clearance: Enhanced Level 1 & 2 and CTC
