Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to lead a team of HGV Technicians in a busy commercial vehicle workshop. The role combines hands-on technical work with strong people management to organise workloads, monitor progress and ensure high standards.

You will maintain safety, quality and efficiency, coach technicians, and uphold housekeeping across the workshop, while remaining hands-on when required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a workshop or technical team.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Hands-on with HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance and diagnostics.
• Able to organise workloads and manage priorities.
• Committed to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Leading, supervising and supporting a team of HGV Technicians.
• Planning and allocating daily workloads according to operational priorities.
• Monitoring job progress, productivity and quality of workmanship.
• Providing technical guidance and practical support to technicians.
• Setting clear expectations and holding team members accountable.
• Coaching and developing technicians to improve performance and capability.
• Diagnosing faults and assisting with servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Overseeing vehicle inspections, repairs and road testing.
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
• Maintaining accurate service, inspection and maintenance records.
• Ensuring workshop tools, equipment and facilities are properly maintained.
• Promoting excellent housekeeping and high health and safety standards.
• Creating a positive, professional and collaborative workshop environment.
