Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd are seeking a Workshop Engineer for a site-based role in Manningtree, Essex. The position covers routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on workshop machinery and manufacturing equipment.

You will operate conventional lathes and milling machines, fabricate small components and tooling, use bandsaws, pillar drills and hand tools, and take precise measurements with verniers and micrometers to keep machinery safe and productive.

Qualifications

• Practical, hands-on experience in a general engineering/manufacturing workshop.
• Experience using conventional lathes and milling machines.
• Ability to manufacture or modify small components and produce tooling.
• Experience maintaining, repairing or servicing machinery and equipment.
• Competent with bandsaws, pillar drills and hand tools.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers).
• Good problem-solving, attention to detail and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on workshop machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and repairing to minimise downtime.
• Operating conventional machine tools to manufacture or modify small components.
• Fabricating small components and tooling to support workshop and production.
• Using bandsaws, pillar drills and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Taking accurate measurements with verniers and micrometers.
• Supporting general workshop upkeep and organisation.
• Working with production and engineering to keep machinery safe and operational.
