Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Workshop Engineer to join our expanding workshop team. The role is depot-based with some field support when required and offers a structured path for career development.

You will service, inspect and repair a range of plant and equipment, diagnose faults, read technical manuals and maintain accurate records. A proactive, safety-focused approach is essential for long-term success.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Plant Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Powered Access Engineer or similar.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics and plant machinery.
• Able to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.
• Welding/fabrication experience advantageous.
• Ability to interpret technical schematics and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs across plant and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and related faults.
• Work on powered access, forklifts, compressors, generators, welders and small plant.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to keep equipment safe and reliable.
• Attend occasional breakdowns when required.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and drawings.
• Complete accurate service records and repair documentation.
• Assist with assembly, modification and preparation of new equipment.
• Work with the workshop team to maintain high safety standards.
