Job summary

Firth Steels in Brighouse is seeking a hands-on Factory / Steel Production Operative to join our busy team. The role supports Machine Operators and involves preparing and moving steel materials, with opportunities to work in the Fabrication Shop using guillotines and press brakes.

We offer a 40-hour week, a competitive hourly rate (£13.50–£14.50) and optional Saturday overtime. Full PPE is provided and there are clear opportunities to progress into a Machine Operator role.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy factory or production setting is essential.
• Experience in steel manufacturing or fabrication is desirable.
• Hold an overhead crane licence or have operated overhead cranes before.
• Experience with guillotines or press brakes is advantageous.
• Good working knowledge of safe manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

• Support production lines by assisting experienced Machine Operators.
• Prepare, handle and move steel materials efficiently and safely.
• Assist with general manufacturing tasks and keep operations running smoothly.
• Operate overhead cranes where trained and competent.
• Assist with fabrication shop work involving guillotine/press brake equipment.
