Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting an experienced School Caretaker for an immediate start at a welcoming primary school in the Erdington area of Birmingham. The role involves opening and securing the site, daily checks, and ensuring a safe, clean and operational environment for pupils and staff.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on maintenance or facilities experience, be practical, proactive and able to work independently.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in caretaking, facilities maintenance or similar practical role.
• Experience working in a school or educational setting is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school premises.
• Carry out daily checks of buildings and grounds.
• Ensure site is safe, secure and well maintained.
• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Report larger maintenance issues to contractors.
• Maintain school grounds and outdoor spaces.
