Job summary

TLTP Education seeks a reliable Caretaker for a Birmingham primary school to start immediately on a temporary-to-permanent contract.

You will be responsible for day-to-day site maintenance, safety and security, opening/closing the premises, and liaising with contractors to keep the site well presented for pupils and staff.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with the potential to secure a permanent position when the initial contract ends in July 2027.

Caretaker - The Role

A welcoming primary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced and reliable Caretaker to join their team on an immediate basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school site, ensuring the buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, clean and well maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

Duties will include carrying out general maintenance and repairs, checking the condition of the school buildings and grounds, assisting with health and safety procedures, managing site security and reporting any issues that require further attention.

The role will also involve opening and securing the school site, carrying out regular checks, moving furniture and equipment when required, liaising with contractors and supporting the school with general site-related tasks.

You will need to be practical and hands-on, with the ability to identify and resolve minor maintenance issues while knowing when more specialist support is required.

This is a temporary to permanent position, initially running until July 2027, with the opportunity for the successful candidate to secure a permanent position with the school.
