Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting for an experienced Site Assistant/Caretaker to start ASAP at a large school in the Small Heath area of Birmingham. This is a long-term temporary position within the Estates team.

You will perform a range of practical maintenance and caretaking duties, respond to day-to-day site needs, support events, and help keep the campus safe, clean, and well-presented. DBS check is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in an education environment is essential.
• Ability to provide practical site services to clients.
• Experience working as part of a team on projects.
• Calm and effective in emergencies.
• Good practical maintenance and repair skills.
• Current Enhanced DBS Certificate is essential.
• Start date ASAP after vetting.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day campus maintenance and operations.
• Carry out basic maintenance, repairs and refurbishments.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests from departments.
• Work with Estates and Caretaking teams to keep campus safe.
• Assist with site set-ups, parking and events.
• Maintain good relationships with staff, contractors and visitors.
• Respond to emergencies and site issues.
• Manage a varied and physically demanding workload.
