Job summary
Veolia is recruiting an Operations Assistant in Birmingham to join our waste management team. You will perform hands-on operative duties at the waste transfer station, operate forklift and bucket loader, and help move waste safely in line with site procedures.
You will carry out pre-acceptance checks, handle a variety of wastes, maintain equipment, and support Receiving Hall operations to sustain plant throughput. A full UK driving licence and a strong health and safety mindset are essential.
Qualifications
- Experience operating wheeled bucket loaders and forklifts.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Willingness to undertake DBS check on onboarding.
- Background in waste/ERF or transfer station environments preferred.
- Strong health and safety mindset and safe-working practices.
Responsibilities
- Carry out hands-on operative duties at the waste transfer station, including forklift and bucket loader operations.
- Perform pre-acceptance checks on waste, verify documentation and compliance.
- Handle a wide range of wastes with correct segregation and safe handling.
- Support Receiving Hall operations and maintain plant throughput.
- Monitor ash lines and maintain baghouse/ash filter operations.
