Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting an experienced HSE Manager for our client’s scrap metal processing and recycling operations in Preston. The role leads health, safety and environmental programs across three sites, driving a proactive safety culture and regulatory compliance.

You will develop, implement and maintain HSE policies, conduct audits, and deliver training to site teams, while liaising with regulators and senior management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental management role within heavy industry or recycling.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and compliance audits.
• Ability to influence and engage across all levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement HSE policies and management systems across multiple sites.
• Drive continuous improvement of safety culture and environmental performance.
• Manage risk assessments, incidents, and regulatory inspections.
• Deliver HSE training and coach site teams.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and corrective actions.
