Principal People Recruitment is partnering with a growing organisation to appoint an HSE Manager on a site in Wrexham. The role is on-site and operational, giving autonomy to drive Health, Safety and Environmental performance at a clinical waste incineration site.

You will lead incident investigations, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop continuous improvement across HSE across the operation. With £45,000-£55,000 plus benefits, the post offers excellent training and the chance to

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a positive HSE culture across the site.
• Manage hazard identification, risk assessments and process safety activities.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental legislation and company procedures.
• Lead investigations into incidents, accidents and near-misses and ensure corrective actions.
• Manage contractor safety, site inductions and HSE training.
• Monitor environmental performance, regulatory compliance and energy management.
• Manage environmental permitting and liaise with regulators as required.
• Support monitoring and emissions monitoring across the site.
• Handle customer quality matters including Duty of Care audits and complaints.
• Produce HSE performance reports and support broader environmental initiatives.

Principal People are excited to be working exclusively with a growing organisation who are looking to appoint a HSE Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental professional to take ownership of HSE across a specialist clinical waste incineration site, driving compliance, environmental performance and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will join a well-established business where HSE plays a pivotal role in the operation. This is an on-site, operationally focused position offering a high level of autonomy, excellent training and development, and the opportunity to further strengthen your environmental expertise

The key duties include:

• Leading and promoting a positive HSE culture across the site.
• Managing hazard identification, risk assessments and process safety activities.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and legislation, permits and company procedures.
• Leading incident, accident and near-miss investigations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Managing contractor safety, site inductions and HSE training.
• Monitoring environmental performance, regulatory compliance and energy management.
• Managing environmental permitting requirements and liaising with regulators where required.
• Supporting continuous monitoring and emissions monitoring across the site.
• Managing customer quality matters, including Duty of Care audits, customer visits and complaints.
• Producing HSE performance reports and supporting wider environmental and sustainability initiatives.

• Strong experience across both Health & Safety and Environmental disciplines, with a genuine interest in developing both areas.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, waste and recycling or similar high risk industries
• Experience with environmental permitting, environmental compliance, continuous monitoring and/or emissions monitoring.
• A Strong practical experience in HSE, with the ability to operate independently and confidently on site.
• Experience dealing with regulators, audits, investigations, risk assessments and compliance.
• A confident and resilient personality, comfortable working within an operational and predominantly male environment.
• Someone who enjoys being hands-on and operational rather than purely focused on management systems.
• A balanced HSE background - someone who can confidently support Health & Safety while also having a genuine interest in Environmental responsibilities
