Job summary

Four-Squared-Recruitment-1 is working with a well-established business in Sutton Coldfield seeking a hands-on Financial Controller. You will own the finance function, manage day-to-day financial control, reporting, compliance and a small team, reporting to the Finance Director.

This broad, operational role covers monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, VAT, AML oversight and regulatory compliance, with direct involvement in strategic financial planning and risk management.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or QBE.
• Previous Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager experience.
• Experience in SME environments.
• Knowledge of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Oversee month-end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Deliver weekly and monthly performance reporting.
• Prepare variance analysis and commentary for reviews.
• Ensure audit-ready financial records.
• Coordinate annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor performance against budget and investigate variances.
• Support strategic planning through financial analysis and modelling.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital.
• Support treasury and banking activities.
• AML oversight and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and develop the finance team.
• Deputise for the Finance Director when required.
