Job summary

Four Squared is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller in Sutton Coldfield to own the finance function, manage month-end, budgeting and AML oversight, and work directly with the Finance Director. You’ll lead a small team, ensure robust controls, and provide timely financial information to drive decision-making.

The role offers direct mentorship from an experienced FD, broad exposure to treasury, regulatory reporting, and a growing SME environment with clear autonomy and ownership.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or QBE with proven finance leadership.
• Experience as Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Experience in SME environment; knowledge of UK standards and VAT.
• AML experience including MLRO responsibilities.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience supervising finance staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly reporting, control processes and pack preparation.
• Coordinate budgeting and forecasting cycles and variance analysis.
• Manage treasury activities, cash flow forecasting and risk monitoring.
• Ensure VAT returns and regulatory reporting compliance.
• Maintain AML controls and MLRO responsibilities.
• Lead and develop the finance team; support Finance Director.
