Job summary

Branta Recruitment Ltd is seeking a practical Caretaker to join a facilities team in Gosforth. You will help keep buildings and grounds safe, clean, and welcoming, working hands-on with a supportive multi-skilled team.

You will manage day-to-day site upkeep, perform basic repairs, and assist with contractor supervision across multiple sites. A DBS check is required and a full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a caretaker, facilities, or handyman role.
• Good basic DIY and repair skills.
• A full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites.
• Willing to undertake enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Opening, securing, and checking sites each day.
• Carrying out basic maintenance and repair work.
• Completing planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Setting up rooms and moving furniture as required.
• Managing waste and keeping communal areas and grounds clean and tidy.
• Supporting the supervision of contractors and site visitors.
• Being approachable and willing to help staff, students, and visitors as needed.
