Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a Caretaker in Gateshead to support the day-to-day operation of a school premises from September, on a full-time, long-term basis. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, opening and locking, security checks, porterage and housekeeping.

The successful candidate will have caretaking or facilities experience, a good understanding of health and safety, and a reliable, flexible approach to safeguarding staff and students while keeping the site safe and welcoming.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation of the premises including planned and reactive maintenance.
• Open and lock the site and conduct security checks.
• Porterage, housekeeping, grounds maintenance as required.

The school is looking to take on a Caretaker on a full-time, long-term basis from September. The successful Caretaker will support the day-to-day operation of the premises, including planned and reactive maintenance, opening and locking the site, security checks, porterage, housekeeping, grounds maintenance and ensuring facilities remain safe and operational.

The successful Caretaker will have:

• Previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance or site management experience
• Experience carrying out general repairs and practical maintenance tasks
• A good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices
• The ability to carry out site inspections, checks and maintain accurate records
• A flexible approach to opening, locking, security and emergency site requirements
• A reliable and professional approach with a strong commitment to safeguarding
