Job summary

Protocol Group is partnering with a client in South Yorkshire to recruit an Engineering Technician (Fabrication & Welding). The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, permanent, with a starting salary of £25,456 per annum plus benefits.

You will support learners, maintain workshop facilities and assist with practical engineering programmes in a hands-on environment. The ideal candidate has industry experience, a solid understanding of safety in the workshop, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Experience in Fabrication & Welding industry.
• Level 2 qualification or higher in Fabrication & Welding.
• Strong knowledge of workshop health and safety.
• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Team-oriented and passionate about supporting learners.
• Level 2 English and Maths or willingness to attain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, assessments and demonstrations.
• Support tutors and students during workshop sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
• Maintain machinery, equipment and workshop facilities to a high standard.
• Distribute and monitor tools, consumables and equipment.
• Manage stock levels and order replacement materials where required.
• Ensure workshops remain clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Support departmental projects and collaborate with colleagues across different curriculum areas.
• Assist with workshop security and report any loss or damage of equipment.
