Job summary

The Protocol Group in Rotherham, England is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician (Fabrication & Welding) to support practical engineering programmes and help develop skilled engineers.

This hands-on role involves setting up equipment, assisting tutors and students, and maintaining workshop facilities to a high standard. A Level 2 qualification in Fabrication & Welding and a proactive team attitude are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working within the Fabrication & Welding industry.
• A Level 2 qualification or above in Fabrication & Welding.
• Strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to work towards these qualifications).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, assessments and demonstrations.
• Support tutors and students during workshop sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
• Maintain machinery, equipment and workshop facilities to a high standard.
• Distribute and monitor tools, consumables and equipment.
• Manage stock levels and order replacement materials where required.
• Ensure workshops remain clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Support departmental projects and collaborate with colleagues across different curriculum areas.
• Assist with workshop security and report any loss or damage of equipment.
