Job summary

SWARCO UK & Ireland is seeking a Production Assembler to join the Melsonby factory team. You will assemble, wire, test and prepare a range of products from technical drawings and BOMs, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

The role covers electrical, electronic and mechanical assembly, cable preparation, cabinet wiring and component fitting. You’ll perform basic testing, use hand/power tools and contribute to continuous improvement and efficient production.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing environment.
• Relevant electrical, mechanical or manufacturing training or qualification.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings, specifications, BOMs or similar documentation.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Awareness of quality and safe working practices.
• Ability to use hand tools and, ideally, power tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Flexible to manage changing workloads and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical, electronic and mechanical products and equipment.
• Prepare cables, connectors and wiring looms.
• Carry out cabinet wiring and fit electrical components, including transformers.
• Assemble traffic signal controllers, enclosures and related equipment.
• Assemble mechanical components, prisms and trailers.
• Read and follow technical drawings, BOMs and kit lists.
• Carry out basic functional testing of completed products.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Support PCB assembly or repair and basic mechanical assembly.
• Prepare and fit sign faces and assemble MDU units.
• Conduct self-quality checks and report issues or non-conformances.
• Maintain safety and 5S standards in the workplace.
• Support continuous improvement and dispatch preparations.
