Collard & Co is seeking an on-site H&S Advisor for contract work near Inverness/Elgin to support health and safety on high‑risk engineering and construction projects. You will conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) principles, legislation, and best practices.
  • Experience in Occupational Health and workplace risk assessment within engineering, construction, or related sectors.
  • Proficiency in Accident Investigation, root cause analysis, and incident reporting.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective Safety Training and safety communication materials.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent) and evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Experience working on high-risk or complex engineering projects, ideally in a site-based advisory role.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, able to influence, coach, and engage diverse site teams on safety matters.

Role Description

The H&S Advisor is a Contract, on-site position based near Inverness or near Elgin, supporting health and safety across high-risk engineering and construction projects. The role involves conducting site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies. The H&S Advisor will develop, deliver, and coordinate safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for project teams and subcontractors.
