Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor for a site-based role near Peterhead, Scotland. The position supports a major earthworks and construction project with an expected duration of around 2 years.

You will provide daily HSEQ guidance, manage RAMS, conduct site inspections and audits, and ensure compliance with legislation and ISO standards while working closely with on-site teams and the client. An immediate start is available.

Qualifications

  • Previous earthworks, civil engineering or construction experience.
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety is essential.
  • CSCS card is required.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and site compliance procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with teams at all levels.
  • Strong IT skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and communicate it clearly.
  • Proactive, organised, and capable of working independently on site.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily HSEQ support, guidance, and oversight to site teams.
  • Write, review, and update RAMS and identify opportunities to reduce risk.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
  • Ensure all practices comply with current legislation and company procedures.
  • Support safety alerts, toolbox talks, and project reports.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses with corrective actions.
  • Advise on specialist HSEQ matters including fire safety, hazardous substances, noise, and machinery safety.
  • Attend site meetings and work with client and project teams.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and proactive risk management.
  • Work in line with ISO standards and company requirements.

Job description

Position: HSEQ Advisor
Location: Peterhead, Scotland, United Kingdom
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE
Working Arrangement: Site based

An experienced HSEQ Advisor is required for a leading earthworks and construction contractor to support a major project based near Peterhead. This is a key site-based role working on a complex and high-profile scheme with an expected project duration of approximately 2 years.

The successful candidate will be joining a well-established and growing business with approximately 500 employees nationwide, a turnover of circa £187 million, and backing from a larger construction group. Working closely with the HSEQ Directors, HSEQ Manager, site teams, and the on-site client, you will play a vital role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest standards. This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience within earthworks, civils, or construction environments looking to progress within a major contractor.

HSEQ Advisor Salary & Benefits
  • Salary between £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
