Job summary

Kier Transportation in Northamptonshire is seeking a Drainage Operative to join our Transportation team. You will drive a gully truck, perform scheduled and reactive drainage maintenance, and help protect highway drainage systems.

The role is full-time (45 hours per week) based in Brixworth, offering a competitive salary (£31,636.80 base) with overtime and call-out payments, plus a strong benefits package including pension and 24/7 virtual GP.

Qualifications

• Experience operating high-pressure jetting equipment or similar vehicles.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team and public, and follow safety procedures.
• Holds UK Driving Licence and Class 2 HGV licence.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a gully truck for scheduled and reactive drainage maintenance.
• Clean and maintain highway drainage systems including gully pots, channels, culverts and interceptors.
• Use high-pressure jetting equipment to clear blockages and ensure free-flowing drainage.
• Record completed works using handheld devices.
• Support emergency response operations during adverse weather or flooding.
