Since 2017 we have delivered around 17,000 new homes across affordable rent, shared ownership and social rent for individuals and families. In 2021 Sage Homes became the largest provider of new affordable housing in England, and we continue to deliver high quality affordable homes across the country.

We have invested more than £3 billion into high-quality affordable housing. Our entrepreneurial spirit combined with our technical expertise has got us to where we are today and will enable future sustainable growth.

About the role:

Are you an experienced, technical accountant looking for an exciting new challenge? Join our team as Group Reporting Manager and play a pivotal role in the coordination and successful delivery of our annual external audit and the production of FTSE-250 style Annual Report & Accounts.

As a Group Reporting Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate submission of all statutory and regulatory reporting for our group of companies. Reporting to the Director of Group Financial Controller, you will manage the production of statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS102) and Housing SORP, and act as the key point of contact for external auditors. You will also have direct line management responsibility for the Group Reporting Accountant.

This role is located in our Covent Garden office in London with hybrid working arrangements of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the annual external audit process, ensuring smooth running and timely delivery of audit requests.
  • Prepare audit papers and financial reporting notes, and oversee the audit timetable.
  • Manage the production of statutory accounts for our Registered Providers of Social Housing and associated entities.
  • Act as the SME for accounting policies, controls, and procedures to support internal control systems.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of Financial Statements to ensure strong controls and documentation for audits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of reporting obligations to regulatory bodies.
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Legal, and Company Secretarial teams to maintain a robust control environment.
  • Support the Director of Group FC with Balance Sheet reconciliations and compliance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders such as Tax, FP&A, and Treasury teams.
  • Manage and develop the Group Reporting Accountant.
  • Perform associated ad hoc duties as necessary.

About you

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA), preferably with experience in a big four firm.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in practice and/or industry.
  • Highly numerate and analytical with a strong financial accounting background.
  • Proven experience in managing audits and producing Annual Reports and Accounts under UK GAAP (FRS102).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a highly inquisitive nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage tasks and projects to completion.
  • Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams in technical environments.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a proactive, tenacious problem-solver.

We are committed to ensuring you have the best career here at Sage. As well as regular support and guidance from your manager you can expect to receive a variety of learning and development opportunities to support you as you grow within our business. This includes internally and externally delivered development programmes and opportunities to study for professional accreditations and qualifications.

To make sure our colleagues feel welcome and cared for, we provide a suite of excellent benefits, including:

  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme
  • A health cash plan, with financial support for a range of options including physiotherapy, opticians, dental and private online GP sessions
  • Study support package, helping you achieve your personal and professional development ambitions
  • Workplace Pension - matching personal contributions up to 5%
  • Cycle to Work scheme, helping you save up to 40% on a new bike and accessories
  • Electric car scheme, enabling you to rent a brand-new electric car at low-cost payments
  • Wellbeing support through MyndUp
  • Two days' paid volunteering leave a year, allowing you to support causes you care about
