Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Group Payments Manager to lead the group payments function, ensuring safe and efficient payment and settlement activity across the organisation. You will oversee governance, risk and resilience while driving continuous improvement of the end-to-end payment lifecycle.

You will use data and automation to strengthen controls, work with banking partners and stakeholders, and manage complex, high-value payments in a large, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading payment operations, settlements or treasuries in a large organisation.
• Strong understanding of payment lifecycle, banking platforms, reconciliations and approvals.
• Experience delivering governance, control frameworks, fraud prevention and resilience.
• Proven ability to drive operational transformation using automation and digital tools.
• Excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Group Payments function to ensure safe, efficient and secure payment activity.
• Oversee performance, governance, risk and resilience across the end-to-end lifecycle.
• Manage delivery and escalation of complex, high-value, time-critical payments.
• Use data and automation to strengthen controls and optimise processes.
