Job summary

Starling Bank is seeking an experienced Payments Director to lead our payments function within Technology. You will ensure payments services are safe, reliable and compliant with regulatory and scheme obligations, overseeing a high-performing team.

Reporting to the Chief IT Control Officer, you will govern payment risk, scheme relationships, suppliers, and incidents, driving resilience and control as the bank grows.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of payment services, schemes and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in payments risk management, controls and governance.
• Experience managing relationships with card schemes, networks and third parties.
• Strong understanding of technology risk within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight across the Bank’s payments activities.
• Ensure payment risks are identified, assessed and effectively managed.
• Oversee relationships with payment schemes and networks including Mastercard.
• Manage key payment suppliers and partners with governance and escalation in place.
• Lead incident management for payment events with root-cause analyses.
