Job summary

Avant Homes is seeking a Group Landscape Architect to join our Group Design team in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. You will influence landscape strategy across developments, delivering inhouse design expertise from planning through to delivery.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years' experience in landscape architecture, a degree in Landscape Architecture, and strong AutoCAD/Microsoft Office skills. A full driving licence and a passion for placemaking are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience in landscape architecture, preferably in residential development.
• Experience producing planning application landscape drawings and supporting documents.
• Strong understanding of residential development design, placemaking and public open space.
• Working knowledge of the UK planning system and planning requirements.
• Desirable knowledge of ecology and biodiversity in residential schemes.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Full driving licence and ability to travel to regional offices and sites.
• Strong self-management, organization, and ability to prioritise.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and contribute to landscape and visual impact assessments, landscape appraisals, feasibility studies and masterplans.
• Review site constraints, landscape character, ecology and topography.
• Prepare landscape strategies, concept plans, and planning drawings with supporting statements.
• Collaborate with Group Design to develop landscape-led residential layouts and placemaking.
• Provide advice on street scenes, boundary treatments, planting strategies and open space quality.
• Support biodiversity, ecological enhancements and Green Infrastructure from early design stages.
• Produce planting plans, schedules and technical landscape information.
• Ensure landscape drawings align with CAD and presentation standards for submissions.
• Work with internal teams and external consultants to deliver landscape design quality.
