Salary: £40,000 – £45,000

The Group IT Infrastructure Engineer is tasked with the day-to-day support of business-as-usual operations on the Group IT infrastructure and cloud services, as well as the delivery of infrastructure project work. At all times, the Group IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for upholding existing standards, processes and policies around security, architecture, design, support, and documentation.

Job Objectives
  • Integration projects to consolidate on-premises infrastructure across group businesses onto “group tin” and cloud tenants.
  • Serving as an escalation point for tickets from the Group IT Service Desk team.
  • Delivery of project work to launch new internal services or new office locations.
Key Tasks
  • Respond to and resolve tickets in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on-time and ensure good communication with stakeholders and the Group IT Services team.
  • Assist with monitoring of the infrastructure and ensure that any problems are raised and resolved as soon as possible.
  • Assist in the completion of scheduled check activities including control monitoring tasks and routine tasks.
  • Track the progress of tasks and projects and ensure these are visible to the team.
  • Take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects end-to-end, from design through to documentation.
Skills and Competencies Required
  • Experience with Windows Server OSs, Active Directory, Microsoft server products, and Office 365.
  • Experience with hypervisor-based virtualisation, networking including switching and wireless, firewalls, SAN storage appliances, backup, and anti-malware products.
  • Ability to discover, analyse and document a network and its associated services.
  • Ability to work as part of a project delivery team by adhering to deadlines and providing progress reports.
  • Ability to understand and digest problems and incidents, then propose and implement solutions to resolve tickets in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand processes and policies and consider them in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to write clear and appropriately structured documentation.
