An aggressively expanding SME, seeking an ambitious qualified Group Financial Controller.

Hays Senior Finance are exclusively partnering with a dynamic and rapidly expanding SME business based in Leeds. Their mission is to revolutionise the online experience by offering a unique and high-quality service to customers. As they continue their rapid growth journey, they are seeking to appoint a talented Group Financial Controller to help drive their financial strategy forward.

Role Summary:The newly appointed Group Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimising financial performance, and providing strategic financial insights. This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic thinking and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the group's financial performance by consolidating results from multiple entities or business units.
2. Develop and implement group-wide financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistency and compliance.
3. Prepare consolidated financial statements, management reports, and performance dashboards for group leadership.
4. Monitor group cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities to ensure financial stability.
5. Identify opportunities to enhance profitability and improve cost efficiency across the group.
6. Lead group-wide budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
7. Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance in all jurisdictions.
8. Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making at the board and executive levels.
9. Lead, mentor, and manage the finance teams across the group, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
10. Drive financial transformation initiatives, such as system upgrades or process automations, to support the group's growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

1. Extensive experience in a senior financial role, ideally within a multi-entity or group structure.
2. Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
3. Strong understanding of group financial reporting, consolidation, and intercompany transactions.
4. Proficiency in financial management systems and group reporting tools.
5. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
6. Ability to navigate the complexities of a multi-entity environment and work across different regions or time zones.
7. First-class communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
8. Experience and training within a Top 4 or Top 10 accounting firm is preferred.
9. Ability to lead, mentor and manage a small, but growing finance team.
10. Proficiency in financial software and tools, with good working knowledge of Excel.
11. Experience in complex, fast-growing, and entrepreneurial environments, such as start-up, private equity, owner-managed, or investor-led operations, is preferred.
12. Experience in e-commerce, data specialist, fintech, digital platforms, and similar would be a distinct advantage.
13. The right to work in the UK, without expiry, such as citizenship, ILW, or pre/settlement status.
