Job description

Job Description

Otto James Consulting is exclusively supporting a Manchester-based technology organisation as they look to increase their senior finance talent by recruiting a Group Financial Controller to sit within their new commercial structure.

With 2024/2025 revenues expected to spike, this year's acquisitions across Europe and the opening of their new UK offices will aim for year-on-year double-digit growth. This is an exciting time for the organisation as they seek an additional capital raise.

Our client is at the forefront of their field. However, with growth and investment, there is an immediate need to add senior Financial Controller talent. The current finance function is high-performing; however, they seek the best in practice, requiring a talented Financial Controller who can collaborate with the C-suite and support strategic decision-making.

The Role:

The successful candidate will join an effective team but will be expected to elevate the team to the next level. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant seeking significant career growth and the opportunity to shape a division and organization on an upward trajectory.

You will be a key figure in reporting on capital investment appraisals, covering both pre- and post-investment analysis. Building and monitoring dashboards to measure KPIs and key performance metrics will support weekly, monthly, and annual reporting with commentary.

Supporting stakeholders across the organization is crucial. We are looking for a commercially minded accountant with excellent communication skills to challenge and support, delivering business strategy through insightful financial analysis, market data, and trends. Managing division forecasts, budgets, KPIs, and balance sheet reviews will be vital.

Additional development areas include:

  • Preparation of financial Board packs and presentations
  • Supporting the CFO and Finance Director in annual budgeting and reforecasting processes across P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and KPIs
  • Maintaining a robust financial control environment with adequate risk mitigation and continuous process improvement
Cost Modelling
  • Creation and ownership of cost and price models supporting business decisions
  • Providing consultancy advice within the business
  • Supporting pitches as part of the cost & pricing team
Pricing
  • Producing prices and supporting audits
  • Implementing and maintaining pricing standards
  • Acting as the first point of contact for internal and external customers/partners to ensure cost and price understanding and competitiveness
Cost Management & Reduction
  • Establishing cost management and review processes
  • Managing margin improvement opportunities and execution
Cost & Price Strategy
  • Creating project cost strategies for business planning and target driving
  • Recommending price strategies to Sales and Operations
  • Developing business models for profitability and scenario planning
Salary & Benefits

This is an office-based role, with an expectation of 3 days per week in Manchester City Center and 2 days remote if desired.

  • Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 plus bonus
  • 25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays
  • Pension (6% matched)
  • Personal and company performance bonus
  • Training & development budget
